Opportunities rise from the dust

04 August, 2017

Karratha District Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO John Lally says the conference will spark a spirited and timely discussion about where the region has come from and where it’s headed.

“For many the Pilbara is well known for its mining sector and therefore this forum serves to challenge this perception and highlight innovative projects and initiatives that are either already underway or planned for the region,” he says.

“The New Pilbara 2 has a diverse focus and an economy which will withstand the fluctuations in the resource sector.

“The Pilbara has caught up in terms of economic and community infrastructure, which now meets the demands of the region’s population now and into the future.”

Lally says there’s no slowing down in the Pilbara and is gearing up for the next wave of economic activity, where new opportunities are emerging

Presented by the Karratha, Port Hedland, Newman and Onslow Chambers of Commerce, the August 29 ‘New Pilbara 2’ will be opened by Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan.

Pilbara Development Commission Chief Executive Officer Terry Hill says collaboration between the Chambers of Commerce across the Pilbara show they are a powerful force.

“The diversity of the program sessions reflects the myriad of opportunities in the region, which will drive long term, sustainable economic activity and job creation.”
