Loud, fast networking series is back

Hundreds of businesses have already experienced rapid fire networking at CCI’s popular Quick Connect series this year.

The popular speed networking series – which is always a sell-out – is back for another round on August 29.

It’s the perfect opportunity to practise your elevator pitch – a short, sharp, persuasive speech that introduces you to potential clients and leads to a natural flow of conversation and a new network connection.

Nailing your pitch in 60 seconds or less is not easy, which is why Quick Connect is the perfect place to take your speech to the next level.

With up to 100 potential new leads in the room, this rowdy, fun event is a great way to expand your connections over drinks.

Michael Goh – a photographer and commercial finance broker – says he’s made connections with people from all types of industries at previous CCI Quick Connect events.

It’s the diversity of the group that is part of the appeal, with connections ranging from not-for-profits, the arts, trades and larger businesses.

Goh says he’s met people from companies that he cannot access elsewhere.

Although daunting for many, networking is crucial to develop and foster business relationships and to create new opportunities.

This form of networking – where connections have two minutes to foster a relationship before moving on – makes it as easy as possible.

There’s also time at the end to take conversations further over more drinks before the evening draws to a close.

One of the events’ drawcards is never knowing who you might meet.

Presentation skills expert Global Institute of Training and Presenting’s CEO Paula Smith was among the group of professionals to attend late last year.

Smith’s top three tips to make the most of the 60 seconds are:

  1. Be clear about your message
  2. Listen more, talk less
  3. Be confident about telling the other person what you need.
