Heavy hitters team up for conference

26 May, 2017

Multiplex Regional Director Jason Thomson says the construction industry is facing issues such as the post boom hangover, financial stress in the subcontract market, technology disruption and ‘race to the bottom’ project pricing.

He will share his thoughts on the industry at the CCI Resource and Construction Conference 2017 on June 29.

Multiplex has been responsible for some of the state’s largest construction projects including Fiona Stanley Hospital and Perth Stadium.

Thomson says the industry should be proud of its ability to successfully deliver a significant volume of complex projects over the past five years, however and the industry needed to be more efficient.

WA’s resources and construction sectors will play vitally important roles in equipping the State for its next growth phase and the conference will hear from some of the industry’s heaviest hitters.

The conference will provide delegates with an insight into the progress of a range of major resource and infrastructure projects currently planned for WA.

CCI Chief Economist Rick Newnham will provide an economic update while Woodside Contracts and Procurement Manager Wayne Glew will provide an update on the company’s current and planned projects.

The conference is held in conjunction with the annual CCI Construction Industry Dinner, Western Australia's largest and most prestigious networking event for the resources and construction sectors with a history spanning 30 years.

Former Fremantle Dockers captain Peter Bell will MC the evening, while top comedian Vince Sorrenti will keep the laughs rolling throughout the night.
