WA business are being invited to provide input on the State Government’s plan to reduce the impact of lightweight single-use plastic bags on the environment.
A series of community consultation workshops will provide WA businesses with an opportunity to discuss the government’s preferred option of a plastic bag ban, which it plans to introduce on July 1.
The McGowan Government announced the ban last year in an effort to reduce the harm plastic bags cause native flora and fauna.
The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation and the Boomerang Alliance are jointly hosting consultation workshops across the state from January 29 to February 26.
Businesses also have the opportunity to comment on the discussion paper Implementing a lightweight single-use plastic bag ban in Western Australia, which is open for public comment until March 9.
