Former CCI infrastructure forum member and Arc Infrastructure Business Development Principal Tim Collins has commenced his role as project director of the Westport outer harbour development office.

Collins will bring to the role more than 20 years of experience in port-related strategic planning, commercial management and logistics through his work at Arc Infrastructure and as Executive Manager Logistics for the CBH Group.

He will be responsible for overseeing development of the long-term strategic plans for the Port of Fremantle's outer harbour and future inner harbour.

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti says Collins' wealth of knowledge and experience in port operations will be highly valuable to the Westport Taskforce's investigations, which will guide the State Government's planning and development of the outer harbour port facilities.

"I am confident he will provide strong leadership in developing Westport's strategic plans for the necessary infrastructure and road and rail links that will maximise long-term economic benefits and future job opportunities,” she says.

Collins’ appointment comes as the State Government prepares to release a discussion paper on its proposed Infrastructure WA model later this month.

Setting up an infrastructure body was a major Labor Party commitment during the 2017 election campaign.

Infrastructure WA will gather experts to provide independent advice to the State Government on future projects of importance.

Consultation has already begun on the Westport outer habour project with the State Government inviting community feedback on its Westport: Preparing for the Strategy discussion paper.
