All roads lead to freight summit

24 April, 2017

Join experts in the field of freight and logistics to hear about key issues and challenges faced by the movement of goods across WA and overseas.

CCI, WA Road Transport Association and the Freight and Logistics Council of WA have joined forces for the one-day summit to be held at the CCI function centre in East Perth on May 25.

The summit will bring together leaders of every economic sector of the WA economy, with representatives from all levels of Government and the freight/logistic industry to identify and discuss the policy priorities needed to improve WA freight and logistics productivity.

It will also provide input into the National Freight Competitiveness Strategy.

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti will open the summit and provide a keynote while CCI Chief Economist Rick Newnham will look at the importance of freight to the WA economy.

Newnham says it’s an exciting time for the freight and logistics industry with the new Government’s plan to introduce a state infrastructure body to oversee and review infrastructure projects.

He says the summit is an ideal way to discuss the need to keep developing infrastructure in WA to bring down the costs of freight and make our exports more competitive.

“I’ll be looking at the overall picture of the WA economy and the importance freight plays in growing our state economy and the role of infrastructure in providing future economic growth,” he says.

The summit will include addresses by Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy and Fertilisers CFO Tanya Rybarczyk and Chair of the Freight and Logistics Council of WA Nicole Lockwood.

Regardless of what sector of the economy you are in, the productivity of the WA freight and logistics industry impacts you and your business.
