Skills Match Consulting

In light of the skilled labour shortage currently facing Australian businesses, CCI has introduced a number of initiatives to assist WA businesses to employ skilled migrants.

CCI is actively involved in attempting to address skilled worker shortages through an integrated approach of short and long term strategies:

    • encouraging employers to increase numbers of traditional trade apprentices and trainees and to re-skill and up-skill their workforces
    • lobbying governments to provide more flexibility in overseas migration policies to meet industry needs, and to ensure appropriate levels of available funding for provision of responsive, effective and timely assistance/ initiatives which meet industry and employer needs
    • CCI's participation in government initiated working parties to streamline administrative processes and reduce red tape, and
    • encouraging all stakeholders to take a more coordinated and proactive strategic approach determining future skills requirements and supply/demand for this labour whereby strategies can be identified and implemented to ensure sufficient skilled labour to meet the future needs

    Australia Needs Skills Expo

CCI representatives participate in the Australia Needs Skills Expos organised by the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA). The Expos feature a range of Australian employers, peak industry bodies and government representatives.

The expos are targeted at qualified trades-people, engineers and health professionals. CCI represents WA industry and provides immigration advice to prospective skilled migrants for metropolitan or regional WA.

In particular, CCI highlights current and prospective WA skill shortages for those occupations which employers find difficult to source and undertake initial screening of suitable applicants. This initiative provides an opportunity for organisations to substantially benefit from direct representation internationally.

Expo representation (sponsorship) provides an opportunity for your organisation to substantially benefit from direct representation at nominated expo locations. Organisations receive the following benefits:

    • CCI staff will assess, screen and shortlist appropriate personnel
    • provide access to CCI leads database
    • provide service in regards to processing visas for the skilled migrants (at member rates)
    • reduce your skill shortages
    • promote your company profile

The expos are being regarded as "the easiest, fastest and cheapest way to recruit overseas workers that you will find anywhere," (Mr Abul Rizvi, Deputy Secretary - DIMIA).
