Careers and Transitions

Currently, CCI provides careers and transitions services through the Australian Government initiative, Career Advice Australia.

Career Advice Australia is an Australian Government initiative committed to providing quality career education, and helping all young Australians aged 13 - 19 make a smooth transition through school and on to further study, training or employment.

As part of the Career Advice Australia initiative, CCIWA has three Regional Industry Career Advisers (RICAs) located in the Kimberley, Goldfields and Pilbara regions. RICAs ensure that young people, parents, schools and local business receive relevant localised industry career information, advice and resources. For more information on Career Advice Australia visit www.careeradviceaustralia.gov.au

From 1 January 2010 the Australian Government will implement changes to its youth, career and transitions program.

The existing suite of programs will be consolidated into two streamlined programs:

  • Local Community Partnerships, Regional Industry Career Advisors and National Industry Career Specialists will be consolidated into a new School Business Community Partnership Brokers program (previously referred to as Community Education Engagement Partnerships).
  • Youth Pathways, Connections, YouthLinx and Mentor Marketplace will be consolidated into one new Youth Connections program.

The Schools Business Community Partnership Brokers providers will broker strategic, sustainable partnerships between schools and the community – including business, industry, community organisations, parents and families – to improve educational outcomes and support young people to stay engaged in learning.

Youth Connections will provide a safety net for young people at risk, either through personalised individual support or by providing services that recognise the role that family and community play in a young person’s wellbeing and development.
