The Western Australian Food Industry "A Shared Vision" - 4 October 07

Australia's food industry is extremely broad based, characterised by large diversity both in the size of businesses, products and degrees of value adding. While the backbone of the agrifood industry sector is in commodity exports (grains, meat and dairy products) recent trends show that exports into a broader range of markets of processed food and beverages is becoming increasingly important.

CCI Industry Briefing: Food Bill 2005

The Food Bill 2005 is a key initiative in achieving national consistency in the regulation of food, incorporating model provisions agreed to by the Commonwealth, States and Territories in the Food Regulation Agreement of 2002. The Bill completed its passage through the Parliament on 15 May 2008 and subject to acceptance of amendments, will be soon proclaimed an Act.

In order to assist companies reviewing their operations against the upcoming Act, CCI held an industry briefing session on 13 June 2008 in which major changes between the old and new Acts were highlighted by staff from the Department of Health.
