The Food Bill 2005 is a key initiative in achieving national consistency in the regulation of food, incorporating model provisions agreed to by the Commonwealth, States and Territories in the Food Regulation Agreement of 2002. The Bill completed its passage through the Parliament on 15 May 2008 and subject to acceptance of amendments, will be soon proclaimed an Act.
In order to assist companies reviewing their operations against the upcoming Act, CCI held an industry briefing session on 13 June 2008 in which major changes between the old and new Acts were highlighted by staff from the Department of Health.
