CCI will be attending a series of Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA) overseas expos throughout the year to help WA businesses recruit staff for skilled positions that cannot be filled by Australian labour.
This builds on CCI's successful participation on behalf of WA business in the UK and Chennai Skills Workers Expos held late 2005, which promptly resulted in businesses recruiting CCI-screened expo applicants.
CCI's involvement in the 2006 DIMA expos, the first of which is in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta), India in March, is dependent upon interest from WA companies.
The area of Kolkata, India is well-known for its resource industry focus and the number of highly qualified professional and trade workers available. India is also recognised for its major engineering industries including railway engine and wagon manufacturing, ship building, coal mining, machine tools, textile machinery, transport equipment, engineering goods, car manufacturing and several others, including iron and steel plants.
Other industries include chemicals, cotton textiles, leather, footwear, paper, pharmaceuticals, electrical and electronics, plastics, software and info technology, vegetable oils, gems and jewellery.
Senior CCI staff, who have experience and knowledge of the Indian labour market and the qualifications transferable to Australian standards, will attend the expos on your behalf.
For a sponsorship fee of $4,250 plus GST (a reduced rate may apply if sufficient interest is received), CCI will endeavour to match your vacancy specifications to candidates attending the expo and provide the following benefits:
- Screening, interviewing, assessing and short-listing appropriate personnel.
- Provision of electronic copies of matched candidates' resumes, qualifications, work experience and referee details - together with an assessment of each attendee interviewed by a CCI officer.
- Detailed information on the applicant interviewed and their dependants such as:
- migration readiness
- their understanding of the visa process
- whether they have applied for a visa and what type
- preferred destination within Australia, eg. metro or regional
- what steps they have taken for Australian recognition of their qualifications
- Follow-up services including access to the CCI skilled worker database and CCI Migration Services for visa assistance.
- Promotion of your current and future skill requirements.
- Promotion of your company profile at the expo (company marketing material will be provided to all expo attendees and media).
