Services Forum

The services sector is Australia’s largest industry, accounting for 70 per cent of the country’s economic activity. It includes: banking, insurance and finance; the media and entertainment industries; communications and information technology; consulting, tourism and retail; services provided by government, such as education, health and welfare; and other personal and business services.

CCI plays a key role in advocating on major policy issues affecting the services sectors in WA.  Understanding the issues of this diverse sector is achieved through the CCI Services Forum, which gives members, involved in the various parts of the sector, an opportunity to share information, concerns and successes and shape CCI policy relating to services issues. The Forum has members from a range of service providers including Training Providers; Retail and Hospitality Associations; Law Services; IT providers; and Consultancies.

Some of the Services Forum’s key priorities for 2011 include:

  • easing WA’s labour shortages through increasing participation of under-participating groups and supplementing the local workforce with migration;
  • reducing the cost of doing business in WA;
  • tax reform; and
  • improving productivity.
