CCI's Industry and Resource Development team provides a range of services to help promote industry development in Western Australia.
CCI actively encourages the development of competitive energy markets in WA, and is committed to keeping energy reform on the political agenda.
The Industry & Resources Team continues to promote the importance of the availability of industrial land, with a recent survey confirming the importance of Kwinana as the State's premier heavy industry site.
The Team is also actively involved in promoting Australian industry participation in WA resource development projects and continues to promote the need for adequate infrastructure in WA to address the trend towards the use of modular construction technology.
The Team also represents the needs of business and industry on a range of environmental issues including greenhouse gas emissions, packaging, waste management, as well as air and water quality, odour, noise and risk management issues.
Overall policy direction for the Team is provided by the Construction Industry Council and Manufacturing Engineering & Resource Council. The needs of the chemical, extractive, food and transport sectors are also catered for by specific industry committees.
These compliment the work of cross-sectoral committees - the Resource & Energy, Environmental Management and Information Technology & E-Commerce committees.
The principal means of keeping CCI members informed of the policy activities of the team is through the monthly newsletter Inside Industry.
The Team also provides specialist services to the petroleum, mining and resource development sectors, and businesses that service these sectors, through the Resource and Energy Projects Service and Industrial Supplies Office of WA.
The Team also provides executive officer and secretariat services to a number of other industry associations.
