CCI provides policy advice on issues in health, community services, disability services and aged care. Specific activities include drafting submissions in response to relevant government discussion and consultation papers, contributing to public debate on relevant issues and working with member organisations.

CCI represents the private and not-for-profit sectors on various government advisory groups.
Through the Health and Community Services Forum and its associated Committees, issues of concern to members in the Health and Community Services sector can be identified and policy and lobbying strategies developed. Practical support is provided to member initiatives in policy, training and research utilising strong links with government.
A Transition to Registered Nursing Program operates under the Policy Forum, facilitating the transition of school students into university through some practical workplace experience.
Available in hard copy, the Community Care newsletter provides members with regular news and information on important developments within the health and community services sector including national and State Government initiatives, research reports and relevant professional and community events.
