What's on in International Trade?
Australian British Chamber of Commerce Networking Event
"The Global Credit Crunch"
Is the WA economy immune from contagion?
Has the credit crunch tidal-wave generated by the sub-prime crisis in the US inflicted any significant long term damage on the US or European economies? How does this affect the Australian economy, and what stage is it at now? What is the trend and what can we expect in the short and medium term? To what extent has Australia de-coupled from the US via engagement with China's appetite for commodities, and could this shift in WA interest have any future repercussions?
Speakers:
- Mr Alan Langford, Chief Economist, Bankwest HBOSA
- Mr John Nicolaou, Chief Economist, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia
This event is proudly supported by Bankwest HBOS Australia Group and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia.

CCI/RCR Tomlinson Ltd North West Resources Tour 2008
To register or for more information click here.
12 May - 17 May 2008
The CCI/RCR Tomlinson Ltd North West Resources Tour provides a rare opportunity to see first-hand some of WA’s major resources development projects. The region hosts an impressive 560 commercial mineral projects, embracing 1222 operating mine sites (open pit, underground mines and quarries) plus 171 processing plants and some 67 oil and gas operating fields. It comes as no surprise then, that it is known as the powerhouse of not only Australia, but the Asia Pacific region as a whole.
This tour will once again focus on Australia’s lucrative and rapidly expanding resources sector, with site visits including some of WA’s leading resource company sites including Woodside Energy, Chevron Australia and Rio Tinto.
CCI Chief Operating Officer, Stephen Pollard will host the tour, giving attendees the opportunity to draw on his extensive knowledge on developments in the resource sector. Stephen will offer participants an informed perspective on the developments in the North West and the associated economic implications.
The tour will commence by spending the day in Perth meeting with chief executives and senior managers from Australia’s largest resources companies. These briefings will lay the foundation for the site visits in the week ahead.
We will then begin the travelling leg of the tour, visiting a number of key underground and open-cut mining operations. CCI’s close relationship with many of the industry leaders means that tour participants are welcomed onto several sites which are not accessible to the public, providing the opportunity to meet and hear from several of the most senior executives within the resources sector.
Your visit to these remote regions aboard a privately chartered aircraft with an air-conditioned pressurised cabin will ensure you visit this region in maximum comfort and minimum delay.
